My Pumpkin Green Smoothie is the green smoothie I make a few times a week. Pumpkin and blueberries are so good for your skin among other things and this is my favorite way to get those nutrients into my diet on a regular basis.

Another reason I love this smoothie is it is super easy to make. It’s perfect for busy mornings!

Plus having a green smoothie every day is one of the ways that I maintain a healthy weight and stay fit! Read about it here, Can you Lose Weight After 50?

Pumpkin Green Smoothie

This pumpkin green smoothie gives you tons of nutrition without sugar, gluten, or dairy. And all the protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals come from REAL food.

Real pumpkin is a nutritional powerhouse. It gives you a solid chunk of carbohydrates without giving you a sugar buzz like your latte or pie.

It is the perfect smoothie to get you going in the morning, provide your cells with some love, and keep you satisfied until your next meal.

I’m picky about what I put in my smoothies. I always use a base of power greens and at least one other vegetable. I do use some fruit but I don’t want my smoothie to be a sugar bomb either.

Here is a recipe for my original Green Smoothie and for my very popular Beet Smoothie (Delicious and Beautiful!)

However today, it’s all about PUMPKIN. It’s well worth incorporating this vegetable into your diet and here is why.

The BENEFITS of Pumpkin

Fiber—looking at the ingredients on my can of pumpkin, ½ cup has 4 grams of fiber. I use about ¾ cup of pumpkin in this smoothie so that’s 6 grams of fiber just from the pumpkin!

Vitamin A—Pumpkin is a great source of the antioxidant beta-carotene that is converted to Vitamin A in your body. Food sources are thought to be better sources than supplements.

Pumpkin is a source for phytosterols. This is a substance similar to cholesterol but found in plants. It is considered beneficial for reducing cholesterol levels and preventing cancer.

Pumpkin is supposed to be good for the skin. Honestly, that is why I began using it and why I keep it in my diet. The same carotenoids in pumpkin that neutralize free radicals may help prevent wrinkles.

Pumpkin is very dense. It is full of vitamins and minerals but low in calories. It is a good source of potassium having even more than a banana.

And this is just the pumpkin part. This smoothie also has super greens, a banana, and blueberries. It is love-for-your-body in a glass!

And Pumpkin Green Smoothie is EASY to Make!

Can you tell I love the benefits of pumpkin and this smoothie? My pumpkin green smoothie so easy to make.

It is the easiest to make smoothie of all my smoothie recipes. Sometimes, I cut up a little ginger for it but a tsp. of the powder stuff works as well.

Heck, skip the ginger all together and just add some cinnamon. You’ll still have a nice meal replacement.

There’s just one little drawback…

It’s not very pretty. But keep in mind what this ugly duckling lacks in looks, it more than makes up for in nutrition and taste.

And as a bonus, it is super easy to make. In fact, it is my only smoothie recipe that doesn’t require any chopping. (I like to add fresh ginger but if you aren’t in the mood for chopping anything you can pass on that.)

Remember the color wheel from middle school art class? Well orange, purple/blue, and green do not make a pretty color.

However, pumpkin, blueberries, and super greens are an amazing combination of foods and well worth incorporating into your smoothie repertoire.

Pumpkin Green Smoothie Recipe

Add to the blender in this order:

2 handfuls of greens
½ can of pumpkin (Easy to find this time of year but off-season it can be found in the baking aisle of your grocery store)
1/2 cup of blueberries (I keep bags of frozen on hand)
1/2 banana (fresh or frozen–I break my bananas into fourths and freeze)
1 slice of fresh ginger peeled
½ to 1 tsp. of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice
1 to 2 tsp. of light tasting olive oil
1 scoop of collagen powder (optional)
Water

Blend on SLOW to start, gradually building up speed until everything is mixing nicely. Finish on high speed to create a smooth texture.
