The Power of Saying Yes

When you make an across the board decision to say yes to LIFE, you create momentum in your life. It’s an adventure of sorts. You open yourself to opportunities that you might not otherwise have access to such as new jobs, new income, and new relationships.

March 2024 Update: I wrote The Power of Saying Yes over 7 years ago. Little did I know, my life would change dramatically the month after I wrote this post.

I was 54 when I wrote it and I’m 61 now. What I know now is that being 50 and now 60, is that we can have to most amazing time of our life when we say yes to life!

Below is a picture of me the month I wrote this post and the second picture of me is 7 and a half years later.

In between those two pictures are new grandchildren, love and romance, hiking adventures, travel, starting my own business, buying my first house, cycling around Texas, and seeing my grown children start and live their adult lives.

It hasn’t always been rainbows and sunshine and I have learned to be more discerning about saying yes. But all in all, it’s been amazing and I am especially loving this time of my life.

I didn’t even know it was possible to be the happiest I’ve EVER been at 61!

What is the Power of Saying Yes?

The power of saying yes, allows good things and opportunities to come more easily into your life. Yet, it seems we are programed to say NO more often than yes. I came up with a fun way to make it easier to say yes to good things on a regular basis.

In an effort to protect ourselves, we can often find ourselves saying no to lots of things, even in our minds.

Recently, in an effort to practice good boundary setting, I was imagining all the ways I’d say “no” to someone. Then I realized that by continually saying, “no” in my mind, I was possibly blocking good things as well.

Everything is connected energetically, and I realized that I might be saying no to good things as well as the not-so-good things. So, I decided that I wanted to turn this around by saying yes more.

The power of saying yes, allows good things to come into your life. Of course, you wouldn’t say yes to anything illegal, dangerous, or that goes against one of your core values.

But otherwise, saying yet to things you would normally say no to can open the door to new experiences and opportunities.

Using YES to Get Unstuck

If you are feeling stuck, one of the best ways of getting unstuck is by saying yes…to pretty much everything that comes your way. (See caveat above though)

You get invited somewhere…say yes. You get asked to collaborate…say yes. You unexpectedly get asked out on a date…say yes. You’re asked to take on something new but you’re not sure you can do it…say yes (You’ll figure it out!).

When you make an across the board decision to say yes to LIFE, you create momentum in your life.

It’s an adventure of sorts. You open yourself to opportunities that you might not otherwise have access to such as new jobs, new income, and new relationships.
